Denise completed a Bachelor of Health Science degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2007; and continued on with her education to complete a Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy at McMaster University in 2009. She also had the opportunity in 2009 to complete further training in Kaimuki, Hawaii, providing physiotherapy services to patients, as well as assisting with running an injury prevention program for female youth soccer athletes.
Denise is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She has a keen interest in continuing to further her education, and has completed multiple post-graduate courses. She has attained certificates in the McKenzie Method (Part A), Muscle Energy Techniques from Alternative Healthcare Solutions, and Strain-Counterstrain from the Connecticut School of Integrated Manual Therapy. She has specialized further with courses specific to evidence-based assessment and treatment for the spine, sacroiliac joint and pelvis, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunctions, breast cancer rehabilitation, as well as sport specific activities such as running, golf, and figure skating.
Denise is passionate about helping her patients recover from their injury, as well as assisting in injury prevention. She works with her patients providing treatment which includes education regarding injury and recovery, as well as manual therapy, and specifically tailored active exercise. Denise assists her patients to achieve their goals, and return to their sports, hobbies and activities.
Danielle is a Registered Physiotherapist, who graduated with honours from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University. Danielle is currently licensed and registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She is also a member of the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations. She has over 5 years of experience working and volunteering in settings geared towards physical activity, physiotherapy and health promotion with a variety of patient populations.
Both of Danielle’s degrees have led her to develop a keen interest in treating with manual therapy and exercise. She believes in lifelong learning and has completed additional courses in Soft Tissue Release and K-Taping. She has also completed Level 1 of her Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. In the near future, Danielle plans to improve upon her current skill set and pursue further postgraduate certification in manual therapy and acupuncture.
Danielle’s treatment philosophy revolves around delivering patient-centered care. She strives to provide education to her patients regarding their condition or treatment so that they can be engaged and play an active role in their therapy.
Kristen has been a full time registered physiotherapist since graduating from Queens University in 2015 with her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. Prior to attending Queens, Kristen completed her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology at Laurier University in Waterloo. Over the past three years, Kristen has been providing care in an outpatient clinic, treating various orthopedic conditions across all ages. Kristen has special interest in shoulder rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation, and overall wellness. Kristen enjoys working with all client populations, but has always been passionate about providing care to our senior community.
Kristen grew up here in Barrie, and has recently moved home to be closer with her family and friends. She aspired to be a Physiotherapist from a young age, and has always been exposed to the rehabilitation environment through various employment, and volunteer opportunities.
In her spare time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family, partner and pup! Kristen enjoys travelling to new places, meeting new people, and learning from others. Kristen is passionate about helping others, involving you in your own care, and working as a team to get results.
Dr. Matt is a 2014 graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, with a previous Bachelor of Science degree in Honours Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. Having grown up in the Barrie area before post secondary education, Dr. Matt has always been interested in helping the people around him live healthier lives.
His treatment focuses on manual therapy including various adjusting techniques suited for all comfort levels with chiropractic. He also uses extensive soft tissue therapy and neurofunctional acupuncture to help ensure that his patients are cared for with a comprehensive approach that suits their needs. Not being limited to just back pain, neck pain and headaches, he is qualified to treat all of the joints, muscles, and areas of the body that relate to how your nervous system and muscular system function. He also focuses on education about how your body and injuries work to ensure patients are comfortable, informed and involved in their care.
Outside of work, he is an experienced mountain bike rider and instructor, having completed many endurance racing events, as well as enjoying the outdoors with his wife and friends on their bikes. He also enjoys playing ultimate frisbee as well as camping, hiking, and exploring Simcoe County.
Katie joins Bear Creek Physiotherapy & Wellness as a Registered Massage Therapist with an interest and a passion for helping others. She moved to Barrie in 2010 to attend Georgian College’s massage therapy program. She graduated with honours and became licensed with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario in June of 2013. Katie has excelled at developing her manual skills, as well as attaining valuable experience working alongside Chiropractors and Physiotherapists in the rehabilitation setting. She utilizes a kind and caring approach with her patients while implementing her skills and experience in providing evidence-based massage therapy to hundreds of Barrie's wonderful residents.
Not only is Katie able to provide relaxation massage to her patients, but she also really enjoys providing focused treatments aimed at improving tissue function, range of motion, and the pain status of her clients. She has a passion for helping people suffering from conditions like plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, chronic tension headaches, TMJ dysfunction, and many more areas of focus. Her goal is to help her patients to return to their busy schedules and activities.
In her free time, Katie can be found crafting, creating costumes, and throwing the odd axe at a stump!
Rebecca joins the team with a background in office administration and a passion for supporting her work team and all those she encounters. She graduated from Georgian College in 2015 from the General Office Administration program. After seeing how much she enjoyed this field of work she decided to go back and complete the Executive Office Administration Program, graduating in 2017.
In Rebecca’s spare time she loves caring for her two dogs, and spending time with her family. Weekend road trips to the cottage are a must for the summer months so the dogs can explore Muskoka!
Heather Murray is a recent graduate of Bear Creek Secondary School in which she was able to take every science course she could - kinesiology being her favourite! Always involved in many extra curriculars, she was involved in school leadership teams, the music department, as well as soccer inside and outside of school.
During a co-op class, Heather was placed at Bear Creek Physio which helped her greatly. Since then, she has been accepted to Brock University for Kinesiology but chose to take a year off in order to gain experience and take part in a service mission trip. After which, she hopes to graduate university and then attend further schooling to become an autopsy technician.
In her spare time, she can be found spending time with friends and family, keeping active, adventuring anywhere and everywhere, as well as keeping up with her studies.
